Appellate Advocacy

James Ramsden KC is also an experienced appellate advocate. He appeared before the Privy Council in January 2009 on an appeal from the High Court in St Lucia and in December 2010 he returned to the Supreme Court in a complex cross-border dispute concerning the rights to telecom franchises in Kyrgyzstan.

This was the first “paperless” appeal heard in the Supreme Court using exclusively electronic document management and presentation. James has made numerous Court of Appeal appearances and appeared before the Appeal Court of Grand Cayman in April 2018.

In October 2023 James returned to the Privy Counsel as respondent to an appeal from the Supreme Court of Gibraltar. He is due to appear in the Privy Counsel in 2024 on appeals from the BVI and Isle of Man.

James is a hugely efficient silk with the ability to cut through the noise and focus on the key aspects of the situation.”
