Regulatory and Compliance Advisory

Members of the Astraea Group team are consistently ranked as leaders in regulatory, compliance and disciplinary work. As leading experts in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) work, we are retained by a number of City legal and financial institutions to advise on these regulatory issues. This work extends to FCA compliance and disciplinary proceedings, and advice on EU, UN and US sanctions.

Astraea Group has worked for international oil and commodities traders on the implications of US and EU sanctions and especially those arising from Ukraine and the US withdrawal from the JCPOA.

Our regulatory work extends to the sports arena. James Ramsden KC has been consistently recommended in the Legal 500 as a leading sports lawyer. He has worked for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA), international cricketers, Premier League footballers and Olympic equestrian competitors. James has also worked for the 2012 London Olympic legacy authority in its dealings with West Ham United concerning their use of the London Stadium.

Based on our experience in cryptocurrency tracing and fintech, Astraea Group has considerable expertise in the policing and removal of offensive and defamatory material on web publications and social media platforms and has pioneered use of the Defamation (Operators of Websites) Regulations 2013 for that purpose.

James Ramsden KC is Panel Counsel retained by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority and has represented  the Law Society, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Intellectual Property Regulation Board (IPReg).
